anybody live in the binbrook area of lincolnshire i have a 3.5 v8 efi in a range rover charge up the battery try turn it over it trys to fire up then quits trying leave it for five minutes then it trys to fire up again its like its not getting enough fuel any body got any time to spare to point me in right direction can pay for time as i have plenty of spare parts and gear
just need help pointing in right direction
replaced fuel line and distributor, plugs leads, airflow management unit, mechanic said injectors arnt switching could be a wire or relay out but i have a box full of relays no idea which one does injectors

To check that it will run, remove the fuel pipe, and connect a small bottle/funnel of fuel to it .. run on that and see if it starts up OK. If it does you'll need to check fuel lines backwards ... If it still doesn't start then check forwards ... ;)

Time to look a Rave Paul D that would be ok with carbs but you need the fuel pump running to provide the fuel pressure to the injectors on a Efi.

Disco924 Was your problem before or after you replaced those items?. First thing I would do is check again the electrical connections as you have disturbed a few especially on coil as they signals the ecu. Your sure your ecu is ok, I ask as I had probs with my 3.5 ecu.

if its a Flapper EFI then i had the same problem it ended up being the signal wire that goes to the ECU. Its a Black and white cable thats got a tiny resistor in the cable near the coil. Take that out and try it with out . Also at the ECU end take the plastic ECU plug so you can see all the wires findthe Black and white cable and whilst cranking the engine test this cable a voltage. ( your best ysing a light than a multi meter). This black and white cable its the key to the ECU telling the injectors to open, the idea being that when the distribitor tels the coil to send a puls of power it also sends a signal to the ECU also telling the ECU that a spark put is about to fire. if whn you test the Black and white signal cable there is no pulse there then trace the cable and check it for brakes, get rid of the samll resistor, and make sure the cable goes to coil ( it might go via a Relay at somepoint this is the over run relay)

Its starting because of the 9th injector thats in the plenum chamber, tere prone to dribbling fuel into the chamber thus giving you a few seconds of the engine trying to start. you dont need this 9th injector its for it you live in extream cold of -17 were it helps with cold starting. All i have some is unplug the 9th injector cable and take of the fuel pipe and block it.

Hope that helps and if you have any more problems aand you do have a flapper EI giz a shoute i have the EFI manual

3.5 14cu injection system is a pain when it does not work right it mite be a case of starting at the basics and working up.
me personal through it in the bin and fit hot wire

cheers mate i,ve replaced the resistor but not the relay near the air flapper box i,ll have a look at the wireing in the morning but your the first one to mention about the resistor and relay i take it that conector the wire to the positive side

if you mean wich side of the coil, then i will have a look it mine. i dont have a resstor at all in mine. i think all thats does is stop the buzz over your cars Radio
