Cough. . . . .thur int nuffing wrong wiff the Gaylander. . .best 4x4 in its class, very good off road, in snow and mud, good mpg [from the doozle] even better on road ,ok its not a tratter, but who wants a rickity rattlin smelly tratter wiff a pig in the back anyways:eek::eek::eek::eek: . . . . . .as for the doors thats another story

Freelanders are excellent vehicles if you use them for what they were intended to be used for, they were never supposed to be "off-roaders" so they can't be compared to the defender in that respect. The diesels are excellent 4x4 compact SUVs.

MHM my freelander is almost 10 years old now and the build quality is very good, it feels solid and its never leaked inside and its never rusted. I really cannot find fault with it.

Now stop it Howardo. What have I told you about upsetting the neanderthals & their Pretenders with all this talk of no rust. Poor dears wouldn't know how to cope without their rusty heaps.:D:D:D

I think thats the real reason that they don't like freelanders. I mean how can they trust a Landy that doesn't rust, must be some weird magic:D

Howardo does make me laugh as he often pokes his head up in the rangie part of the forum I'm sure he is hankering after the dark side of RRC's and P38's or is jealeousy rearly taking hold.
All joking aside I have only ever driven one Freelander and I hated every minute of it (And That was on the road) still every one to there own I supose !!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks, but at the end of the day freelanders are the best looking, defenders are ugly and I know which id rather be seen in ;)

Doesn't prove a sh..., me too have driven only once a Def 90 soft top (a yellow one....) on the road and all I remember is that it was noisy, slow as hell and had no room for my arms, wouldn't want it as my car, would rather prefer the new Freelander2 (running the risk of being called other names than gaylander as this one seems to be reserved for the FL1?.......):D:D:D (have been passenger in that same yellow submarine sorry defender on an offroad terrain and must say it was really brilliant, took hills and mud and water, no problem).
