P38A Its getting a bit stiff...

The auto shift that is.

Seems to ease a little when everything is warmed up a bit.
From D back through 3,2,1 is the worst. Going across into Low range is fine but the forward and backward movement is definitely stiffening up in either range. I've checked everything beneath the cover in the centre console, what should I look at next?

Usually it's the cable from the gear lever to the box tight in it's sleeve, often due to lack of use moving only between P & D. Feeding oil in from the top while moving the lever back and forth may free it off, otherwise it will be a new cable. RAVE will show you how to get access to the top of the cable by the gear lever.
