Hi Folks
I'm the proud owner of an 06 TD4, had a new ignition key supplied and programmed but now the engine turns over and wont fire. The auto locksmith's kit says that the key is enabled so as far as he's concerned there's another problem.....
The RAC man had a look today and he's bit of kit says it's the immobiliser that's stopping the engine from firing.....
Anybody have any ideas about what to do next........

On my earlier Freelander there's a small light on the dash that flashes when the car's locked - if you try and start the car without a coded chip close by (which is in the fob on mine but the key on yours I believe) the car is immobilised and that light is on solid. So that light will tell you if the chip is programmed and working. Dunno if you have the same light on yours.

The key isn't programmed to the immobiliser. This is confirmed by the RAC technician. What kit did the Key guy use?

You will need to get the key programmed by a T4 if you get stuck there are guys whom can do this for you, I have contact with a few depending on where you are based

Thanks for your reply's gents,
I'm not sure which machine he used, but it was green. He managed to get engine to crank but nothing else.
I'm in SE london, so if you know anyone with a T4 around here i'd be delighted to know.
Steve

There is Phil in Olney Buckinghamshire he also travel to you if required, if that is any good to you I can send you his contact Arctic
