P38A It has come to pass......

When you are married with young kids, family comes first, end of. This period in your life will seem to be a mere brief interlude in the future. Owning Range Rovers is a rich mans or single mans pleasure, for everyone else it's a pain. Cut out all your unnecessary expenditure and concentrate on the present. By the time you come back to Rangies, those idiots in Solihull may have designed one that works properly.

Possibly. Personally I have a wife who hasn't worked in over a decade and a kid but we get by with the P38. Admittedly when I first got it I had some fairly hefty hits on the wallet but it is manageable at the moment. Now, TWO Range Rovers plus a 110 plus a Beamer? Then we'd be seriously f*cked. Add in to that I have had the same car for years so I've ironed out the niggles; Saint tends to fix all the issues, get bored and then buy another one to tinker with!

How many Land Rovers have you had in the past 5 years, @Saint.V8? Got to be a fair few - plus the Freelander hoax that saw more keyboards fried from spouting tea than a year of lightning strikes.

Well, lets see and I shall start from the beginning I guess (Just Land Rovers I won't go into all the other cars - that is for another day! pictures of them are in my Signature):

Passed my driving test in 1998......

1999-2001 = 1988(E) Range Rover Vogue SE 3.5EFi - Rear cross member and chassis legs rotted out, replaced and then sold on to another enthusiast when I bought......
2001-2004 = 1995(N) Range Rover 4.6 HSE - job changed and driving 100 miles each way to work in a 4.6 was suicide......so I had to sell.
2004-2008 = 1997(P) Range Rover 4.6 HSE - 3 months later I couldn't live without a Range Rover so when the company gave me a car, I bought another as the 'weekend' car. This one I part Ex'd for a 2003 VW Beetle 3.2 RSi for the other half.....
2008-2011 = 1993(K) Range Rover Vogue SE 3.9EFi - With some spare money after we moved and buying the other half her Beetle, I bought this RRC. in Jan 2011 some little **** nicked it and set fire to it......
2011-2012 = 1999(V) Range Rover 2.5 DSE - With the insurance money I bought this one - it was short lived as I was passing a car showroom and saw.....
2012-2017 = 2003 Range Rover L322 4.4 Vogue (LPG) - Part Ex'd the DSE......we all know the sad fate of this one....still not sure what the heck happened!
2014-2016 = 1988(E) Land Rover 90 Truck Cab 200Tdi - Other halfs car, she wanted another kid and a two set lifted off road pick up was not practical so we sold and bought.....
2016-2017 = 1991(J) Land Rover Defender 110 300Tdi - Was a great car. Until the chassis went south (cracked in half). Some little **** had repaired it with filler that had iron fillings in so the magnet test worked - gutted to say the least.
2017-Present = 1988(F) Land Rover 110 300Tdi - Is a great car, it leaks, it rattles and its cold but we love it. Have to sell it to pay my dad back - need to get on with that actually.
2017-Present = 1998(S) Range Rover P38 4.6 HSE (LPG) - Y'all know the saga on this one currently!
2018-Present = 2002 Range Rover L322 4.4 Vogue (LPG) - The other halfs car.....

There has been many 7'er Bimmers, a couple of Jags, a couple of 3'er Bimmers, an Audi 80, a Twin Turbo 3.0 Toyota Supra (pop up lights model) and an Opal Manta fitted with an Opal Monza 3.0 engine (my first car)!!!!

And a number of proper Minis, a Fiat 500 Sport, the Beetle RSi, Mk3 Golf GTi 16v owned by the other half....!

I remember the Opel Monza and the Manta. A mate went backwards through a rockery at 50mph+ in the Manta and that was the end of that. Fun car up until that point though.

Sorry, but you sure know how to get through your cash.

Sorry to hear your pain St, Hope it all works out but a few months with less out goings especially with the season coming up being expensive excluding cars you might feel better for it.

You've sure seen your fare share of P38's ;)

Quite an interesting car history.

I guess I am really lucky in that my "problems" with George have been fairly small to date, but no less aggravating

I am also lucky that I can sort out the majority (although since the "incident" my mate Ian does the heavy stuff....) including finding the stupid shite HT lead faracas... That was a lucky find because most HT lead faults can be seen in the dark with the lid up, but because this one was hidden it took a while. Bit gutted it took out the coils though! :( Was offered a pack from an older model with four "double" coils, so while I'm sure it would work, I have no idea how to wire that unless you know Saint??
