Solution:

Put dead mouse on passenger seat - wait 5 minutes - pick up slightly fatter snake from passenger seat and leave car outside overnight sans snake.

If that wouldn't have worked I'll eat a tube of bostick - snakes aren't exactly inteligent, in fact you can count the number of squamus Nobel Prize winners on 'no hands'
