Isit a restrictor?

Hi all,

I have been tweaking the fuel pump on my disco 200TDi and now turning my attention to the turbo. But before I do I have noticed that the pipe from the intercooler has a small section that thins and squares off just before it enters the turbo housing.

Is this a restrictor for some reason? or is it to help route pipework on left hookers?

Can anyone offer help and insight into this?

No it sits just above the near side frame rail at the lowest point of the intake pipe. The piece is metal so the pipe goes from material to this metal restrictor and back to material before hitting the turbo.

Have you got a picture?
I think you will James is right even my 200 defender has got cooler pipes with squashed up bits and its all for clearance.
Bearing in mind its under pressure it would have to be pretty small to be a restrictor.
