Ive replaced two of my actuators so far with maplins standard ones they just fit straight in. My one rear door is playing up now but not sure if this one is the spring or not.

The door sometimes locks and unlocks fine on the key fob, sometimes it does't unlock at all on the key fob and sometimes it will unlock but not lock. Sometimes it doesn't go up just enough to unlock the door so I have to pull the latch up a little.

Some signs point to the spring but the fact it locks and unlocks fine some times leads me to believe the actuator is on its way out. Its also rather slow going up when unlocked compared to my other locks.

Any ideas?

One of the symptoms of an iffy spring is the door pin pops up when u unlock, but the drops down slightly therefore relocking the door.

If it's the actuator? there's a fine-line of adjustment so slacking very slightly the 4 mounting plate screws and move the plate while unlocking/unlocking with the fob, when fully working tighten the screws.

Actuators can be repaired and with some just a spray of wd40 will get them functioning again, there's not a lot in them just a electric motor and if the lubricating grease hardens it won't revolve fully and move the operating rod.

As the actuator sometimes doesn't even attempt to move the lock ill try the wd40 and see if that gets it working. It might be a combination of an iffy spring and actuator as the door pin does pop up and drop slightly occasionally that's when I cant sometimes open it when its unlocked.

Unfortunately it now sounds like the spring, :( but as you will have the door card off checking the operation of the actuator (bouncing forwards and backwards fully as it should) is the first and easiest thing to do before moving onto the lock spring.

Brett whats the part number for the maplins actuator - wouldn't mind getting a set of 3 for my 3 door and whipping them in while she's on her winter maintenance programme

Presume they are the same jobs all round?
