is this normal?

Hiya, been hearing a weird clanking coming from the old coal burner up front so a taken the top of the engine off and the valve pokers look like this? is this something to worry about or is it normal?

normal after a quick / 'ghetto' broken-cambelt repair (usually bends the pushrods as your photo)

normal people remove the pushrods & hammer straight before reusing...

you have such a way with words -

the bolt holding cam sprocket decided to undo itself resulting in the valves kissing the pistons, thankfully only damage was the rods and camshaft woodruff key sheared. Note to self... USE LOCKTITE!

Bit of scoring on the shell but nothing a bit of emery cloth couldn't handle

better using a scraper / blade as emery scratches and 'sheds' abrasive particles that can go through the oil system to the oilfilter
