Is this a new world record for a main stealer?

7 days to replace my starter motor under warranty at Marshall Land Rover in Cambridge

Im at a loss for words to describe their incompetence. The guy from Land Rover Assist even wrote on the paperwork they were given dead starter motor. Worst of all because they bitched and argued over whether it was a warranty claim or not I was left vehicleless, knuts!

I wouldn't buy another new Land Rover purely on the basis of my last experience of their aftercare.
Absolutely diabolical.

I never buy a new enough one to get after care or a warranty!

It certainly wont be going back there again, when the next thing fails i'll pay out of my own pocket.

Walk in and let off. Proper arms failing and loud shreiking stuff.when theyre really busy. Then let em sort it quickly.

Borrow 2 or 3 small children from your brother / sister etc, (do not use your own kids), go to the dealers and stand and complain to the erks , whilst the kids run riot in and on the cars ...

A lack of automotive engineers working at main dealers doesn't help ...

and when you consider what price you are paying for non-warranty work ...

I'm not a trained automotive engineer but I do have an engineering background and I wouldn't butcher a nut like that.

Or if I had to I'd put a new one on and hide the evidence lol

Seriously though, that nut showed it had been tightened the same way. It should also have been torqued to about 400n/m, we undid by holding the flywheel still by hand.

How do you put that much torque on it? That works out to about 280 ft/lb.

Well you get a breaker bar and a bit of scaffold pipe and pull till just before your piles explode

Land rover main dealers are generally awful in my experience.

A good friend has just bought a brand new defender 90 2.2. within 2 weeks of owning it, multiple items broke!

the main one being the drivers side wing air vent plastic cover detaching itself and coming off while on the motorway which then flew into the car behind and cracked their windscreen. It was badly glued on and when it was taken back to the main dealer they didnt want to know!
