Is this 90 worth the asking price???

It's a bit steep if you ask me. 20 years old remember. All that fancy off road stuff doesn't really add that much to the value in my opinion. Having said that it's what's fashionable at the moment so I'm sure he won't have any trouble getting rid of it.

Just bought one myself from a dealer not fleabay - and it was 600 quid more than that one - and is an 01 and has 60,000 0n the clock, that one 600 quid cheaper - has done over twice the mileage and is 11 years older than mine. My mileage is low for its age ish, and that one works out at roughly 6000 a year which is really low. Make a list of all the 90's you find on ebay and auto trader, then put them in year order. The ones that are a rip of will stick out big time.

Nope.
£4k tops - and that's with a warranty.

and it depends where it is too, there are regional differences, what I found out was the further up north from Cornwall you went the cheaper they got till you hit Yorkshire then they went up again then cheaper after. Cornwall seemed quiet expensive because of the demand I expect and I looked at the fact that I wanted one so I was prepared to travel to get the right one at what my pocket could afford after comparing all the ones I could find and comparing mileages, and year on a list.

Im in Cirencester (the cotswolds) and landys hold there money around here......especially after all the snow we've had.
It seem's every one got a panic on, and rushed out and bought up all the s/h landys......Bless there lil cotton socks.

All landies have been fetching silly money since the winter got serious. Even old sheds with no MOT have gone up in price probably people falling for the old "won't need much for an MOT" line. If you can wait a month or two I reckon there'll be some bargains about when people who've panic bought due to the weather realise that a landy isn't just a car that can be neglected like the modern plastic rubbish they're used to.

looks good, but also think its a bit high on the price..
and i would check the chassi carefully... looks very tidy and been protected, as its all black as well as the axles...but was it treated or painted to hide rust?

i like to see these prices though..means if i get to sell mine I would make a huge profit!! :D

I think its a bit over priced but its a dealer...so you will be paying for the warranty..i have to add i think you're being a bit harsh re 'rusty shocks'..looks like a bit of pitting thats easily removed..could have been stood for a while..you're going to get far worse problems than that if you keep it a while...its a kitted out landy that should be used off road, so it will get damaged and dirty...if you're not going to use it for its purpose you can find a nearly mint later 200tdi without the toys.

it looks ok ish from most of the images, not my cup of tea bu ti know that look is all the rage these days

however, look at the image showing the seats/dash - the passenger side bottom of the door pillar, looking just over the diff lock/LR lever there's what looks like either a lump out of the trim or (more likely) a rotten bulkhead foot

also same image, the fold in the foot well plate, under the pedals isnt looking good - is that a split in the sheet ?

a couple of images show what looks like a part or very badly done attempt at under sealing the axles, didn't they have enough for the chassis and tub bottom ?

it's these small clues that make me think it's 2.5k over priced

remind peeps what did your 90 cost the other day Storm

It just strikes me as odd when someone is considering buying something like that but is concerned about a few spots of rust on the shocks....its personal choices i guess but i'd rather spend far less and not be too concerned about bumps, lumps and dents...and take it out to play without worrying.

I really dont understand why you'd give so much for a vehicle with lots of bells and whistles that you aren't going to use...maybe i'm being tough on him and he does intend to give it its legs off-road...but i can imagine his enjoyment will be tempered by the worry about whether its going to get dirty/wet/dented/broken..

To be honest..it'd frustrate the hell out of me if i owned something that i couldn't/daren't use..

a friend of mine who is a car trader says theres a shortage of good 2nd hand defenders around at the moment hence why stealers are putting up there prices, even dog rough 90s will sell..

any defender is worth what you the buyer wants to pay for it..anyone can offer there opinions as to "what its worth" but there are really no set rules its worth what you will pay for it..
