hey guys, would it be worth fitting a k&n airfilter to my 2.5 n/a diesel instead of the standard airfilter and box? if i did would their be any benefits to performance or would it just be more at risk to water damage?

cheers

Rich

I found a K&N made a huge difference to mine

just remember to attach it to a 200tdi :D

Ah'm sayin' nowt....

But fur the price ah paid for me K&N filter ah can't complain;)
It's meant to be fur a 300tdi, but after stickin' the plastic collar with fins on mine it fitted me 200tdi no probs:D
If ye're wondering the price.. let's just say ah'd have had some change back from a ****part one at the time;):p:p:D:D

Just found the photies ah was lookin' fur...

been wurkin' a treat fur the past 2 or 3 years and even the cleaning fluid and oil was on special at the time;):D:D

Mine came with the engine, but I hadn't got round to fitting it as the filter housing was damaged and I wanted to make sure I got a nice airtight seal - otherwise the snorkel I just fitted would have been pointless! Not sure how much they are new - first impressions are.... no difference!

I bought it because they are cleanable and I was heading for a dusty climate at the time. Marginal increase in power on my 200Tdi. I think it just lets it breathe more easily and it certainly keeps the dust out! Didn't put the sticker on so hard to say if I got the full benefit.

Ok so I'll ask what we're all thinking. What's the point in that box on the wing?

if you want a 2.5na to go at top performance, the only option is to just keep it maintained and serviceable. You will probably not make that engine perform any better, not by putting a different exhaust on, and certainly not by putting a performance air filter on hehe.

To be fair, my 2.5na isn't performing too well at the moment with an air filter that's completely saturated with oil, but it's better than disconnecting the breather pipe from the air intake and breathing in the fumes in the cabin!.
