I noticed you can get cheaquar plate for the bonnet on rebal 4x4. Has anyone used this is the bonnet stiff enough to stand on, like on a defender. I would like the option as it makes loading the roof rack easier.
Cheers Jim

If the steel is anything like a Freelander, no. You can push it in just by applying a little pressure with your finger. It's ridiculous.

Bonnets in more modern car designs (1990s+) are meant to be relatively soft in order to make it safer for pedestrians.

If a pedestrian decides to stand in front on the landy then thats there fault, nothign wrong with a nice solid bumper and bonnet.

I agree. But that's not how western governments tend to see it. Too much blame is put on drivers and cars these days.

I walked the length of my car over bonnet and along roof and it was fine, totally standard 300TDI. I am pretty skinny though.

Stood on mine to reseal the windscreen (on top edge)but it wasn't happy and dented in which flexed out when I got off-not recommended.

The chequer plate that I,ve seen for the Disco is pretty thick. and I,m sure it would add a good deal of strength to the upper central part of the bonnet.

Its a big old bonnet, at the end of the day, and to put your full weight on it without it flexing is expecting a lot.

Del.

Obviously yeah, I was wondering more whether anyone had stood on it and whether they think it would take the weight with that chequerplate on.

I'm probably gonna give it a shot tbh cos I'm thinking of mounting a cargo net/spade on there aswell.

The plate should help to spread the weight so you might be able to stand carefully...

We'll see anyway!
