Is pulling the Plug(s) a good idea??

Q.....

The well documented Steering wheel drive motor(s) failure.....

I am Looking to reduce component failure, so if I can stop the system from retracting and extending each time the ignition is turned on or off etc, I feel it would be beneficial....

If I just pull the two plugs to the motors (C1394 and C1395) would this be a solution or will it throw up a fault or two??

Or is there a software way of doing this....??

I am saving the pennies at the end of the month to get hold of the All Comms from RSW (Funds can't stretch to Hawkeye or Faultmate Extreme just yet), does the All Comms have the ability to switch this function off?

I've disconnected my reach motor (well, to be more accurate, it broke its plastic mount and fell onto the floor dangling by its wires so I disconnected it) without any issues/error codes

The faf to plug it back in if the short one (the girlfriend) ever gets to drive it will be a bit of a faf so wasn't a viable solution....

All Comms Ordered from the genius that is Storey Wilson, just got to wait for it to cross the pond now...:)

Good choice !
Don't forget you will also get stung by customs charge before it gets delivered !
Shame, one sold on eBay a couple of days ago for £100 :(

Prefer to get it straight from the source, also Storey has put a lot of effort into this for us home users, so would prefer to line the pockets of the man who dedicated his time and his money into it....!!!

I did a bit of a search and from results it should be between £35-40 for the import duty....fingers crossed...;)

Amazing that customs can pick up on a little packet when they don't seem to notice the hundreds of illegals a day coming in:rolleyes: I guess I've been lucky, I've never got caught for duty on anything:D

It's not the actual motor that fails, so unplugging it may not help that much. It is (as noted by others) a plastic clip which holds the motor onto the steering column. This can be fixed by cable tieing it on more securely (which is what I did after the clip broke).

I understand it is the Plastic Mounting and also the 13mm nut on the end of the drive shaft that locks up at the extremes of travel...

My theory was, if it doesn't move and I don't constantly lean on it when getting in and out....the Plastic mount won't break and the nut can't get locked into place....!!
