Is my P38 lying to me....?!

Driving along comfortably the other day (for a change) I decided to randomly look through the trip computer ... Normally I average around 27.3 mpg..but to my surprise - I was knocking out 31.8 mpg !?!? ....

I can drive it like I stole it on the odd occasion.....

I have a few faults and think chip has an issue.....anyone know the best place in Bristol or come to think of it anyone who can plug it in and give me run down where to start ? - happy to pay for time with beer / money

Is it diesel or petrol??? It just depends if you was driving it like you stole it I did 180 mile in mine and averaged 25mpg but I do drive like a Doris though

Is it chipped? Sometimes the chips return unusual readings due to interfering with the fuel flow.

I'm in Bristol and have got a Nanocom with a diesel licence on it, if I can remember who borrowed it last !!

I've seen that sort of figure on my DHSE when it was chipped, brim to brim it averages 24mpg and nearer 27mpg since I fitted a new SS exhaust.

I struggle to keep above 21mpg but i do live in leeds with traffic lights every 100 feet or so .....

Depends how and where you are driving at the time. I too have 2.5 (auto) which averages 25. On the motorway you can set the computer to calculate mpg (press and hold stalk switch in for two seconds) and after enough distance has been covered to do the calculation it will say anything up to 40mpg. Soon drops back tho' when you accelerate or go up hills!
Over the last 800 odd miles mine has averaged 25.2 ... which I'm happy with.

I like to live in a fantasy land - where I had the only P38 clocking 30 plus MPG !!! It's about time I had some payback for the thousands I have spent on it .....(all adds up !)

It's my pride and joy and I only ever use it at weekends, it runs really bad when cold almost like it's not firing correctly. Which I presumed was the chip....
