Is it worth nearly 10k

Plod still seem to change engines at 100k. I was looking at some ex-traffic cars (newuns, just retired from the force) and they all had engines changed at ~100k. Seems wasteful to me when modern engines are easily good for 200k without breaking a sweat.

That said - there was a program on the 'box a couple of years ago, doubtless repeated several times so obviously an old story, about Hampshire (I think) traffic unit that ran P38's & they were on their 3rd engine by that mileage.

From my extensive Range Rover experience (9 weeks), I'd only pay top money (i.e. £10k plus) for a regular Vogue, if I had a wad of photos in front of me showing a high standard restoration of the sills, inner wings, rear X-member, bulkhead, boot floor and rear tailgate. Plus a full engine rebuild.

Surely the only ones worth investing in are, as people have said, the top spec models with low mileage.

But what do I know of such things.

I have not had my RR long but I did pay a the higher end however, I do feel you often get what you pay for. I will get problems, I know that but I have bought a:
Vogue 2001 4.6 V8
Near mint (black) with very clean chassis
Mint engine bay
Mint Nappa interior
x2 owners, I company and 1 owner from 2006
77000miles
FULL service history at Land Rover every 7/8000 miles
Mint Scorpion tyres
Overcarpets
A truly cherished car. Problems though that have materialised since I bought it are:

Passenger mirror not returning after tilting in reverse
Alarm going off at night outside my house (now not happening with blue connector removed from receiver to establish if it is something in my street, it clearly is)

That's all and I love it!!

The blue wire may have sorted the alarm going off , but get the upgrade RF receiver asap. Or you will get other problems for sure ! :)

I paid top end for my 2002 vogue se (104k miles, new engine had 50k on it).
Mint & i mean mint condition - used to be shown at various events.
In the first 18 months ownership i've had the following:
Serviced every 6k miles
2 x HGF's
prop uj
New rad
New waterpump
Refurbed alternator
New brakepipes
New Disks & pads
New rear hub assembly
New rear diff
New window regulator
New pulleys

......still love it though :)

Cheers and will do, just needed to see if the issue was interference in my street and now pretty sure it is, now just need to find the updated receiver and install.

Thanks

. . .mine seems to get plenty of attention, a few jealous reactions but if you want something in life, go and get it!

I just love the bulkiness of it, the lines, the interiors are so well planned out and they look a lot of car for the money but like every car, they can go wrong I'm sure and also they can cost, just like any car.

The most fun is pushing your foot to the floor at junctions!!!
