Iv got a pretty much bog standard td5 90.
Iv fitted a straight through centre pipe but that's it.
Is it worth de catting (I'm aware or the new mot rules) and removing the egr valve?
Will I see any actual real world gains?
Also can anyone suggest an egr removal kit?
I want the complete kit not just the plates.
Cheers chaps

No I don't think you'll notice any difference if I'm honest. Best bet is a re map of the ecu.
All I can say for the egr valve is get one with the blanks on the replacement pipe for the vac hoses. I got an alive tuning one and that doesn't have the blanks .

I'm bewildered by the remapping jobbie.
It seems to be a right minefield,
What sort of money is a decent remap?
It is something I'm thinking about

De catted this afternoon, wow.
It's noisy and faster.
My cat must have been bunged up.
The turbo noise is immense and the irritating drone has gone?
It's louder but quieter???

Interesting to hear it's faster, they do get louder when removed , I love the sound of mine removed, I also don't have the mid box in and I love the sound but it does drone a but in long journeys,
Sorry I never got back to you on the remapping, basically your choice if you do but if you actually go to have it done they'll make it to your requirements and not just any old one. Best thing is if your not happy they can adjust it to suit.
I can only comment on who did mine and very happy I am with it. It was hyper chips that did it.
It uses no more or less fuel than before, is much more powerful for towing and things. I don't regret it one bit. One thing it does though is black smoke quite a bit more than it did

Black smoke is down to overfuelling. Generic remaps or plug and play chips are the culprits. A decent remap should give max performance whether that be torque or bhp with very little or no black smoke. A turbo diesel will always smoke a tad at low revs and full throttle until the turbo spins up. After that you should not be smoking at all. Mine is tuned for max torque as I tow a heavy trailer and I get no smoke even when working the engine hard. My remap even showed an increase in mpg of about 3 mpg over stock which was a pleasant surprise. Its so much nicer to drive and I can now pull out into traffic like driving a normal car. Mine was done by Gary at Alive Tuning over three years ago.

It's just a shame the new mot rules say if the car came with a cat from factory it has to be present at mot or it's a fail.
