Hi landy lovers.... me 1997 dse is getting me down latley ... all these little niggles are fun (sort of) for a while... for the amature mechanic like me..but a weekend dont go by without me spending time under the bonnet ... so im thinking about a L322.. so do they all have tv's ?? screens in the headrests ?? remote heater in the rear?? I really know nowt about the l322.. any one point me in the right direction to find the spec's on the early l322... Im ****ed really cuz I always wanted a p38...but every other day mine has tummy ache.. any advice would be great.. many thanks stuart..

trouble is, when you get so far in on a car then you are making progress, after all theres only so many parts to go wrong!!!!

if you buy another one youre back to square one.

i do know how you feel, i was ready to give up but i persevered and now am confident i could use the car at any time night or day and it wouldn't let me down!!!

trust me i wouldn't tow the caravan if i wasn't sure of the car!!!

the diesels are supposed to be a good engine, my boss has just bought the 5.0 V8 Supercharged, its a right beast !! 0-60 in 6.0 seconds also 8.8mpg around town !! haha
also they dont all come with the screens and whatever.

Hi.....if you've got the pennies or the inclination to fix it then go for it as they are a lovely car.......i just got irritated with the price of everything on the 38 and then i read that the headlight for the 322 was £650 rrp !!!................i bought a whole car's worth of spare parts and lpg kit for £450.....so i was thinking that apart from the shiney lovelyness of a new car that you would have a lot of money to spend on parts if you kept the current one.....and you get to talk to us more frequently as a bonus..:)

Am really thinking along the same lines. There's a very nice '05 in my neighbourhood that might be for sale plus I've driven one from work quite a lot. They are lovely cars, truly. But yes, I'd be starting from scratch again learning about its problems and the parts are more expensive too. Interesting thing I don't know if anyone's noticed, we're recently started seeing more and more posts in here from L322 owners. So as they get to around 5 - 7 years old it seems bits have started to give up or fall off! The question is, do I want to get in just as the replacement cycle starts and have to deal with it for next 2 - 3 years? I think I'm going to wait a bit and see.

Now the price is nearer 10 k than 65k theyre more likely to fixed by a backstreet garage or even a DIYer rather than a main dealers/approved garage.I expect we'll be seing more and more owners posting on here.

l322's are ugly! Too tall! Only good thing about them is that the rear end lights look better then the p38. Don't do it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi landy lovers.... just got back from working away for the week.. so just got around to reading your replys ...many thanks for all your thoughts.. I think you may have made me see sense and keep me old dse..... but she still gets on me tits.... and KDS is right.. the price of the diamond encrusted ,sold gold, platinum edged DMF is giving me the willys this side of christmas ... but hey.. there you go...I wanted a p38 for so long.. and bought the first one I saw.. but you will read that bit all over this forum..... many thanks all.. now............ wheres me tool kit...stuart

Personaly i really like the styling ,side vents, lights etc. when i was went to main dealers they had an 80k 59 plate fully loaded silver sport, inside looked like a space ship. The salesman said there was a years waiting list for one WHERE DO PEOPLE GET THAT SORT OF CASH FOR A CAR

If you want the specs on any range rover go to Parkers website (its a price guide site), then choose the approx year and model and it can tell you the specs for all variants, including any special models.

3 types of people buy brand new RR's

1) Premier league footballers

2) Investment bankers earning massive bonuses

3) And Villains (maybe thats just 2 types then :D)

You must have more money than sense to spend 80k on a motor that will be worth 50% less in 18 months

As for upgrading I'm waiting for the 05's to become a bit cheaper. My local Indy rekons the P38 is a breeze to work on in comparison and the early L322's are his biggest source of income, even allowing for the fact that alot more people DIY the P38.

Hi landy lovers...funny you should say that about about the 05 l322... my mate whos friendly with my local stealer ..(me mate got a range rover sport)said that the the stealer told him that the 05 are very good cars... so I better start saving....which is impossible ... cuz I have to spend money on my p38 every two weeks!!!!........ any road im keeping it now....for a bit....
