I'm after peoples thoughts on my newly fitted steering guard, i think it sit's a bit low? but can't see how it would fit any different i've not yet done the suspension lift, i have the spring's shock's castor's and cranked arms to fit just not had the time!

I'm wondering if i've been supplied with the wrong guard

Cheers in advance.

Personally mate I think you've fitted it wrong :D

It isn't often easy to fit a steering guard with an HD bumper, but looking at it being a bit wonky I think perhaps you have selected the wrong holes.

Take it off again and have a rethink, or post some pics of your mounting location.

Cheers :)

I agree with Mr N, as I made exactly the same mistake when fitting mine.

It looks like you've fitted it to the bottom bolts on the bumper mounting. You need to use the top bolts. Ideally the brackets should use all four bolts but I can't see from your piccys how many holes there are on the brackets.

I've had the same problem on my Disco Had to ditch the Steering Guard. As the Winch Bumper, covers the Top bumper mounting Bolt, that the guard used to fit to. I'm left with the option of
A..Don't bother refitting it

B..cut the top half of the mounting arm off and just fit it to bottom Bumper bolt and chassis

C..Cut a slot into the base of the Winch mounting tray to allow the steering guard to locate properly.

Before you do raise it to where its supposed to be, can you have a drive round and scoop up all the dead badgers littering the place! :p:D
You won't be first or last to fit it wrong by the way!:)

Hmmmm.

Looks like it should be top bolt, but of course it also looks like the top bolt fit would cause the side plates to foul the chassis front crossmember.

If you were to fit it to the top bolts at the front, how much would it foul?

The cutout that is visible clearly in picture 2 looks like it is designed to allow room for the front crossmember.

Who was the guard made by? Do they have a website that we can consult?!

Well finally got a reply back from the dealer's, who in turn went to Terra Firma, who said.....

"The guard is bolted in the correct position on the vehicle. It looks odd because the bumper is a non-standard and is higher up which gives it a larger than normal gap."

Well that's me at a loss and i guess a few quid out of pocket, might get local fabricators to make me some new brackets.

cheers all.

It does look **** where it is  can't you cut the top of the brackets and redrill the mounting hole??

Not with the standard brackets as there's not enough metal there to keep the strength once cut, so need new brackets to get the better angle and looks.
