Hi all,

After over 4 years of trouble free motoring, I'm thinking of selling my Defender. I've done the usual research and the prices they are being advertised for seem pretty high to me ie £250 depreciation per year of my ownership! :)

Accepting that the advertised price is never the price actually paid, are people actually managing to sell their LRs for anything close through Ebay/Autotrader/Pistonheads etc? If so, it's decision made for me!

FWIW I've got a 2001 (X) Defender 90 genuine SW in Epsom green with 95k. It's just had the big service, MOT and a new clutch and flywheel. Completely standard other than a soft A-bar and lights. Cheapest similar I can find is £8.5k and upwards. Is this realistic??

Cheers in advance for your advice.

sounds ok to me , dont knock it they hold thier money real well ;)

I hoped it would when I bought it, but this is better than I ever imagined - thanks for the confirmation buckshot!

I'd better get washing and waxing this weekend (if the rain ever stops) ready for some photos

why sell it? better to enjoy it (thats why they hold their price its the smug grin factor :D)

A fair question, I took it to France fully loaded (roof rack and all) last year for a fortnight camping holiday. I just got away with it, but my two lads seem to have grown rapidly in 12 months and I can't see me shoe-horning us all in again this year :scratching_chin:

It was fun though and the Defender had loads of attention from both locals and other campers!

Sounds like you need to upgrade to a 110 csw.;):D

Cheers all, 110 is definitely on my options list... I quite like those new fangled 110 Utility wagons...

Dear Mr Bank Manager, please will you lend me some of your Bank of England windfall money... :D
