Found the same thing! Ive often looked at the the tool "porn" site at SGS, even added stuff to the basket, but when I get to check out, I realise I dont actually like impact wrenches!
Its probably a subconscious thing, I dont want to look/sound like a Kwik Fit fitter!
But I do have an impact driver, its 30 years old and works a treat, very good on brake drum/disc screws!

PS An ordinary battery drill with a socket driver is great for removing/installing the small bolts on the TD5 sump/oil pump, though!

To the best of my knowledge, regards to the power tools only, an impact driver is for screw type fixings, mainly wood and it impacts rotationally, and impacts into the screw, push it into the wood etc. So it impacts in 2 directions at once.

An Impact wrench has a square drive on the front to fit sockets, and only impacts rotationally, and puts out alot more torque than the impact driver, often more when removing.

I have a Ryobi Impact Driver (their description) and 2 4ah batteries, use it for wood butchering and built a few decks and a workshop with them
(used other tools as well)

This was my first deck built out my head! prior to treatments

Not one nail used apart from the cladding underneath, used an air nailer for that. All deck boards screwed

My impact driver is the type you hit with a hammer, but I guess a "modern" impact driver is the battery powered one!
My favourite battery impact driver is the small Makita 10.5V, does a great job and doesnt mash up screws.
Ive noticed in the UK that star drive screws dont seem too popular, they are absolute best for decking!

Think it was a bit over engineered, you could probably park a land rover on it, with the amount of concrete underneath and also the fixings

My daughter would love its similarity to a fort!
Shes been bugging me to build her a fort/castle!
It could have done with searchlights and flag post!

Yes she was going to get a hybrid "Princess Castle" tree house. But snow has stopped construction work!
