Hello Owners
Thinking of changing your own IRD oil as I am if so are these the questions we need to ask our selves before we do, hopefully the more experienced and knowlegable of the FL1 owners will post and add what they did or know as fact.

Am I right in thinking that ( 75W90 GL5 Full Synthetic ) (Carlube Driveline 75W-90 Axle Oil ) is the right spec for the IRD, or is ( Carlube Driveline MTF-94 ) the same.

Scenario lets say you have a clutch change, will the clutch centre or garage use two separate oils or just the one, when refilling after a clutch change.

What are we looking for from the oil if and when we change it ourselves, ie no metal shavings, decent colour no smell.
Will / should the oil need changing a temperature or from cold, I note the size of the bolts is 21mm, as I checked this yesterday while changing my engine oil, there seemed to be a little oil leak from the IRD drain bolt, I wonder if it was from when I had my clutch change? I had to tighten the IRD drain bolts a little.

The correct spec is 75w90 full synthetic. MTF 94 is to light for the task.
I must admit that I use a 75w90 semi synthetic and just change it more often.

Hi Nodge.
Thank you for posting, as one the knowledgeable members would you say that you can and should use MTF 94 in the gearbox & 75w90 full synthetic in the IRD separate, as I have a feeling the clutch place used MTF 94 in my IRD when they change the clutch, as always any posts suggestions are appreciated, I will be giving them a ring Monday but want to make sure I am correct in what I say to them.

75/90 w fully synthetic 5lts arrived sometime this week if I get chance I will change the oil, even though my FL1 will be looking for a new owner by the end of the month or first week into April, depending on the FL2 being ready and another test drive after their service.

I just like to have everything right as it should be.
