We had a 2002 V6 auto a few years ago and loved it but just couldn't live with the mpg's (lack of them). Always wanted a nice TD4 but they always had lunar miles on if they were within budget.

Found this one parked on a drive just down the road with a forsale sign in the screen and snapped it up beginning of sept.

Sat on 100k with decent tax and test, cd changer, heated black leather, aircon and 17in alloys.

First job replace one of the rear tints as the corners were peeling, bit of a pain in the arse but well happy with the finish

Then within a day the brake lights stuck on, no 3 amigos. Went straight to the main dealers and grabbed a new brake switch with loom.

Purchased this and had the chap come and fit it as he's based locally

Land Rover Advanced CR2 Multimap Diesel Tuning Box - Microprocessor Controlled | eBay

Got it set on low end torque/economy with a small tweak, rather than the out and out power through the rev range setting. Personally Don't think you should be revving the nuts off diesels. Drives really well with it set as it is.

Serviced it myself the following week,
Oil+filter
Crankcase filter
Turbo vent filter
air filter
Pollen filter

Didn't bother with a fuel filter as it had been replaced last year when it had a new fuel pump fitted.

Then it all went wrong is spectacular fashion :(
The wife killed the IRD on the school run at 5mph no prior warning signs at all

So unfortunately my flexible friend took a bit of a hammering.

As it stands now it has had:

IRD replaced
VCU replaced (bell engineering)
Prop Bearings/mounts replaced
Rear diff mounts replaced
2x Rear tyres to make all 4 match (falken ze12's)

My job for this morning is to fit this EGR Bypass

Hello, smart looking freelander, like the interior especially, shame about the ird blowing though. What kind of head unit does it have just i have a f1 the same age and am trying to fit a CD changer to it but unsure if the head unit I've got is compatible. Cheers ed

Not sure what type it is but this runs my changer (it's located under the drivers seat

Well at least it's all shiny under there now!! ;)

Yep will hopefully stay nice and shiney as well, unless this worse winter in 100 years turns up

Looks smart!!

Cheers.

Fitted the EGR bypass yesterday , that was quite an easy job. Also renewed the power steering fluid as it was smelling a little burnt.

I did my EGR and the stupid jubilee type clamp is rubbish! What a stupid cheap ass system! Why not use a proper flange clamp?

THATS THE SAME KIND AS MINE :D I wasn't sure whether it was compatible with CD changers. If you've ever got the head unit pulled out could you do me a massive favour and photograph the connector and where the wires go please. Did you notice any difference with the proper egr blanking kit? I've only disconnected the vaccum on mine.

Glad to see it sorted , another nice example !
Cheers

Looks great. Here's to many trouble free years of ownership......

I hope so, hopefully that little lot will keep it on the road for a bit.

Why? Is he selling his Land Rover and buying something else then..? ;)

We did briefly flirt with the idea of flogging it. But sadly this is the wife's dream motor so thought we'd better give it the benefit of the doubt and keep it longer than a few months.

I wish mine would appreciate my needs for a white Testarossa, but the silly moo wants the money spent on a house instead.. Women...

I have caught her eyeing up Rangies though, but she's very happy with the Freelander so that's a good thing!
