I have a P reg discovery 300tdi. I have replaced the starter motor and the battery, it will start no problem for a while then it won't start and sounds like there's not enough power to tun the engine over, if you connect jump leads to it ,it still sounds the same, but it will bump start any ideas???

jump leads to where starter or battery ?if its no better with jump leads to battery godd be poor battery or leads to starter and earth lead under seatbox or starter itself ,if jumps leads on starter then poor starter, though your jump leads may be poor to

try earth leads under seat box should go to chassis then transmission ,jump leads from neg terminal to transmission or engine should help prove either way,in the same way lead to starter will show condition of positive lead

Possilby actuator wire from ignition, the small spade connecter on the soleniod. Put a spade on a length of wire, connect to solenoid and touch othe end to battery +ve.

Also could be poor main feed to solenoid, corroded cable giving high resistance. You can bypass with a jump lead from battery to main + ve on solenoid.

Btw a new battery is not necessarily the same as a good one

Still got same intermittent starting problem good battery good starter even put a wire from battery to starter but it will not turn over properly its as if battery is flat if I leave for a bit it will then start on key
Any other ideas Please

Tried it is as if the battery is flat hooked a second battery to it and it still does the same. Could the imobiliser have some part to play in starting problems?

point is if your using poor leads or putting jump leads from good battery to poor battery both can give the same symptoms as long as poor leads to starter and vehicle earths ,you need to eliminate these
