Intermittent squeak/scraping noise

It seems I have developed a squeak from my drivers' side wheel. It's so random that it's very difficult to diagnose, but it does appear to be relative to the speed that the wheel is turning in that it is more rapid the faster I go. Whe it is silent, I have tried both the handbrake and the brakes to intentionally force the noise, but to no avail. It also seems to be irrelevant whether I'm going round corners, or driving in a straight line.

*pulls hair out*

Does anyone have any clues?

Something caught in the caliper? Pads not held in properly and intermittently running on the disc edge? Grit on the pads? Intermittent sticky piston? Muck under the piston dust seal? Too much play in the wheel bearing?
I'd probably start by dressing the pads with a bit of sandpaper and refitting correctly.

Could just be a stone stuck in between the disc and the back plate. Happends to me all the time after a bit of off road play.

Me too on the track to the stables - makes a hell of a noise!

Jack the wheel up, place your hands at 12:00 and 6:00 on the wheel and try to wiggle it in a rocking motion. Any free play movement on a hub bearing assembly requires replacement
