Since I've had my 2000 diesel I've had a weird fault. Coming over the crest of a hill I'd lift off and the engine would cut out and I'd get GEARBOX FAULT on the dash. There is one road locally where I could almost guarantee that it would happen. Since I first posted about this others have reported the same issue but no-one has ever come up with a cure. Admittedly with no evidence I'd come to the conclusion that it was an electronic disagreement between the gearbox and the engine as to their relative speeds.
Well, about a month ago, my gearbox failed and I've had it totally refurbished. Since then I've not had the fault recur. I know that this is hardly positive proof but I have, quite deliberately, driven my own, personal problem road and tried to induce the fault but nothing. As I say, hardly proof but interesting and very satisfying.
