Hi Guys,

Just got a 2001 Defender 90 TD5.

Occasionally the engine light comes on and I have to turn the car off and back on to get rid of it...

I think it's only happened about 3 times, and I've not noticed a lack of power (eg safe mode) or anything but didn't want to rev it with the light on anyway!

Only on 50,000 miles and fully serviced etc, if I take it to a garage will they be able to read the engine fault codes stored or would I have to take it to Landrover?(Ehem ripoff!) What tool would the normal garage need for that?

Thanks!

i take it you mean the engine management light ?
probably need to get it on a dino mate could be just fault codes or might be something bit more seriouse

Cheers mate, yes I suppose the management light... An orange light that looks like and engine! Sorry I'm no mechanic.

Would a normal garage be able to do this or would Landrover need to look at it?

I'm based near Hereford if anyone knows somewhere near that could help?

Hi,
Try Docklow Land Rover Services just outside Leominster towards Bromyard on the A44.I have used them for over 20 years and there's not much they dont know, plus they dont rip you off.
Regards-Adrian

Thanks for all the replies chaps!

Just spoke to Docklow Land Rover Services and they were very helpful, said just to drop in when I'm nearby which I will do.
