interesting issue with disco 2

:):)It all started a few months ago now, I have noticed that when I go to my 2000 ES disco it seems to start when required, even when cold.

I have tried to see if I can get it to be like all the others, and to that end have given it a Veg Oil mix, still it appears to love a bit of veg in its fuel.

But as I was driving last night I noticed that the heater started working after about ten minutes, but never really got that hot, just comfortable.

My Air bags appear to be reasonably level and the only time I get warning lights (apart from first key insert) is when wading, then i was pleased to see M&S flashing, but even that stopped after a few minutes with a switch off and on again.:doh:

problem is this....I can seem to find enough to complain about, I don't seem to fit in and was hoping for any advice, like buying a series ect

Another track may be to invent issues, or for a really good response pick an obvious one and ask the question again and again( that seems to get the best banter, why search. when so much fun can be had with a simple question like, what tyres, which door lock..:frusty:

well some times its all doom and gloom....that's why the resto threads are fun

just needed a rant....please feel free to add your gripes...whatever they are. but be prepared to have pee extracted...hope this can be a feel good thread.:behindsofa:
 
They did on mine but followed the fix on here and the problem was fixed...been a jem since....but good to know another good one out there,

mine is a 2000 Discovery II ES TD5 with 198,000 miles on the clock.

I suppose it will go soon and bite me in the ass though, till then, happy days
 
yeah im getting really fekked off with this aswell, every god damn morning it starts on the button and to top the day off ive got no sunroofs to leak or air suspension to go wrong! what the **** am i ment to do with all this spare time??

seems we need to get a Disco 1 300, especially one thats been parked on a beach below the tide line for a couple of days, sold by a guy that imported it from south Africa which he is selling on Gumtree for his mate, almost rust free low milage with no problems, well to speak ov...

Then my son you'll be a Landyman

Rust proof your rear chassis before you're sweeping it up off the driveway! :D
 
There's always stuff to do on LandRovers.....if you think you're done, you're not looking hard enough! :)
 
:):)just to report, another day without mishap.....should I be getting nervous:doh:...just how long can I expect this run of good fortune to continue.:mad:

:pwell its an idea...but a bit drastic...never heard of any vehicle coming back after a dip in the sea.....seems no matter what they all just dissolve away... had one of those before, and to be fair you just cant keep up with the corrosion or electrical faults.

that's why insurance companies will write any vehicle that's been in the sea.

still it might be a slow interesting death.

but as it seems I have the only reliable TD5 it might be a real loss to the landy community:rolleyes:
 
I haven't had a problem with mine for over a year now and I'm starting to get a little worried

Yep...that's one of my real concerns....its 12 years old, so I guess its going to happen at some point, I can replace most stuff in advance of a failure, air bags, water pumps, oil pump bolt, but there are always going to be bits that are just too dammed expensive/labour intensive, to fix before they give up.

But I figure that's just all in the joy of owning an Older model....At the moment I am under no illusions I have been really lucky, with no major failures....

This is the downside of these forums...you are warned of ever possible failure and usually a list of what to change to get around them. Its loaded with tales of woe, and how it seems every Landy is a bag of Sh*t, and despite all the stuff on here that proves me wrong...I actually don't think its true..Hey....

The upside is some really good lads and an entertaining time reading the banter.

Just that after a while its easy to get paranoid and then your just always expecting it to fail. My hope is that yes it may fail, but I get a whole load of normal use and fun before it does.

and well so far so good...long may it continue....yeee Haaaa
