Hi all, can anyone give me some advice please. Just in the process of fitting a 200tdi in my 90 and was looking at the intercooler,It's full of an oily sludge. How do I remove it? I was thinking a "Gunk" type fluid, would this work? Or is there somthing better ?
Thanks.

+1 for petrol, i use it to clean loads of stuff and it seems to be one of the most effective. That and its cheap as chips.

Just wash out the intercooler afterwards to remove any petrol residue and make sure its dry before refitting it. (i slipped mine in the oven on a low heat for a bit whilst the mrs was out)

i used paraffin to clean mine, swished it round loads, drained it out till it looked cleanish, put it on a bench, filled it to the brim, left over the weekend, flushed it through monday morning and left it to evaporate till tuesday night and fitted it
