my wife wiv me named driver - 2yrs ncb - fully comp with euro and legal - was £470 - now want £574 (ok so its not 50%).

looked on web - barclays quoting £320:rolleyes: . M&S quoting £303:)

maybe a chat required:( :D :p

If youre all gonna give your details, only fair I give mine.

Norwich Union £550 full comp. Unlimited miles, business and private use, Winderscreen cover, Couretsy car when in for reapair, Protected NCD, £100 Excess, Legal Cover, Think thats about it.

All singing all dancing, can get cheaper but by the time you look at the excess and other bits and pieces they don't give. I'm better off with these me finks:D

We've had all this on here before guys, at the end of the day it all depends on where you live.

On a slightly different angle, my insurance is with Esure. When this years renewal came through there was a clause stating that I would not be covered for " Organised 4x4 off road events". According to them I can go off road as long as it is not "organised". With Yella and others going off to France offroading I just wondered if anyone else has came across this on their policy?

thats ones easy to fix - al Yella needs to say is " I am going to France on ......" If you just happened to be there at the same time - wot a co-incidence!?

Appreciate what you are saying, but what about the likes of an official LR day, or something similar? Anyway was just curious if anyone else had the clause or is it just Esure?

Hi rock!
I think most policies have the same clauses that states no Competition,Race, Rally and the like, Just try giving them a ring and explain your situation, I dont know about esure, but when i used to race mini's I just had to stump up the extra to cover me for the event and they were happy!
That was a good few years back" when i was a lad":D

not to mention;

whether or not you have any points on your licence

your age

any previous claims

car kept off road / garage

security arrangements

annual mileage

your credit rating (yes, I said credit rating - statistically, people with abad credit score have more claims than those with a good one - manyinsurance companies take this into account)

whether or not you are married

how high a voluntary excess you want to have

how much you reckon your car is worth

whether or not you pay your premium in one lump sum - APR's from insurance companies are notoriously high (probably because people dont ask what it is - just what the monthly cost will be!!)

Biggest single thing I did to reduce my premium was to take my Advanced Driving Test - I was 23 and driving a Renault 5 Gordini - as you can imagine, the insurance was horrendous - I cut my bill by 40% in one foul swoop - the cost of the ADT Test and lessons wre covered within 6 months!

Cheers Mondo.
Previous years certificate had usual clauses but this was an extra that appeared in addition to the usual ones. I wondered if this was a new direction the insurance companies were taking. May have to phone around before renewing this year, cos there was no mention about it until the documents arrived. We'll see how it goes, anyway its not that I do much offroad anyway!
