Insurance and named drivers

Just emailed Adrian Flux to enquire about adding my 23 year old son to the insurance on my 90
Only to be told they wont allow named drivers under the age of 25
can anyone recommend a company that do

Don't no what the problem is he's driving his own GTD Golf and got 4 years no claims

What about Endsliegh who specialise in student insurance. Our kids were both insured with Tesco's as named drivers for cars we bought for them to learn in but insured in our names so they may be of help.

Admiral are usually able to insure younger drivers.

NFU allowed my son on my wifies insurance on a Fiesta when he passed his test at 18. It wasn't cheap though. The insurance went from £24 to £181 a month. However it did plummet in the second year to £121

You have used a specialist insurer and this is how they work.
It always used to be the case with Classic cars they class anyone under 25 as a higher risk.

Has he got full comp insurance if so check to see if he has cover to drive other cars included.

Flux should give a good price to your lad for the vw cos is a marque they like. They used to include third party on other vehicles on all their levels of cover too. Although this was a while ago and There have been some REALLY bad reveiws of them on here lately.

he has fully comp on the golf but no cover for other vehicles, probably an age thing
Think he's going to have to wait a couple of years to drive the 90. Funny how he only pays £1800 for the Golf in his own name. Cheapest quote I can get with him named on the 90 is £1700. Can't get him on a classic policy due to his age never mind means I won't be S#$$#%# myself when he's out in it for a cpl more years...... Every cloud aye

Ive always delt with the NFU since passing in 2010 they arnt the cheapest but better service and the branch i use you can pop in for coffee and know them all on first name terms..

Tried Aviva? I've just put my daughter on as a learner with no problems.

It was NFU that quoted £1700 so there not that expensive, told me to give them a ring when my policy is up for renewal. Said they can probably beat what I'm paying Flux for myself

it seems its cheaper to put a learner on,as they're never unsupervised in the car. I did this on the car with both lads when they were learning. As soon as they pass there test the price gets ridiculous

Cover for other cars isnt usually included till they get to 25.
They changed this to stop young drivers buying a 1L micra, insuring it and then driving "daddys" Impreza under the "other cars" cover.
Seems to be dying off for other policys now, I had to ask for em to put it on mine, didnt cost me any more, but it wasnt on as standard :/
