Hi everybody, just collected my 2005 TD4 and very excited. I have a question about the brightness of the instrument cluster, can it be adjusted? I've looked at the owners manual but no joy? On my cluster, on the speedo, there is two buttons, one selects the odo/trip counter but the other one doesn't seem to do anything. Mind you the manual doesn't show very many similarities as my car? Cheers:confused:

In total agreement, the instrument lighting is inadequate. The choice of colours is poor, grey/green lettering on a black background, more contrast is needed. I find it impossible to read any data when driving into the sun, even with the visor down (and I have reasonable eyesight). I wonder who evaluates the design before it is put into production, dont test drivers ever read the instruments?

Its a pity the instrument lighting doesn't come on with the ignition a la Toyota and Citroen to name but two of which I am aware. The Toyota's is especially good, clear numbers and sharp line of light for the pointer. Have looked at connecting mine to the ignition but not totally sure that there isn't some feedback to one of the computers that might screw up things .

the handbook says the extra button is used to toggle the outside temperature in the digital display between celcius and fahrenheit.

never seen one with the temperature display though?
