Installing a head unit

Showing my age! I've bought a nice Sony head unit. Just waiting for the wiring harness adaptor to arrive.

Now that head unit comes with a metal sleeve that slides over the unit and that is supposed to hold the unit in. Ho do you attach that 'cradle/frame' to the facia?

The whole thing is a neat sliding fit. Do you just bend some of those pressed metal tab up/down and that's all that hold it in?

Not sure you welder's leads will be long enough!
