205 will be too small as Storm says... I would say 235/85 as a minimum.

The tread pattern itself is pretty good, I had them in the above size on my previous 110. Excellent off road (provided you remember to get the tread direction correct) but rather noisy on tarmac. Not great in the wet either, where they tend to lose traction easily.

They are a bit wahey on wet tarmac! Are you going to do a lot of mud driving with your Defender? If not Id say go for Insa Ranger/Traction Track/Mountain, intead of the open mud tread that the Saharas are.

They don't look to bad to be honest thats why i aint that fussed had looked at 235 but on 70/16 and thought they would be to small.

235/70 are the same height as 205/80.

235/85 are a better size for defenders, standard size for 110s iirc and will give more clearance, fill the arches better, make your speedo more accurate and give better economy at motorway cruising speeds.

Cant say i really rated them-correct me if im wrong but think their a remould mine didnt last as long as my Kumhos and the Kumhos didnt cost a great deal more. £180 a pair fitted.

My didn't think this was going to be to hard. So what would you put on freestyle alloys. but also fit standard landrover wheels.

i run 235/85/16 insa saharas on my 98 300TDI 90, They raise the 90 by about an inch or so and do fill the wheel arches a lot better. I find they preform very well in the scottish mud, clay and general crap also find them good int he snow. Havent had any scary moments in the rain with them after all its a defender not a bloody sports car so why would you want to whore it around a corner ?? As for wear i have had my set on for a few years now with a lot of tarmac driving and there wearing very well, they have fantastically strong side walls. Once they need replacing i will be getting another set of insa's maybe the special track next time

my mate had them on his series, great offroad but noisy and wear quickly on the road, also in the rain they lost grip around a corner resulting in him destroying a wall and his series

Well i dont find they wear to quickly, and as i said driving a landy like a sports car swb arnt the best for going around corners fast even in when dry

After all that i've decided to go for the dakar tyre seems to be better on the road and rates well or aswell as bfg muddies. So hopefully made the right decision.

The dakars are a bloody good tyre imo, I've had mine on for nearly 2 years now and they've still got pleny of life in them. Great off road, great in the snow, good on road,a bit of road noise but not too much, not the best in the wet but what mud pattern tyre is?

Hope you get as much use out of them as I've had.
