Hi guys

earlier on this year i bought a set of 5 used insa turbo saharas on d1 steelies and yesterday i got round to fitting them on the disco, but the missus kicked me right in the balls last night  and said she likes the tyres but doesn't like the steelies :( i don't blame her really i don't like them either but they came with the tyres on them.

now she does like the alloys i have just taken off and i am thinking will insa turbo saharas fit onto my alloys if so i can get my hands on a good set of alloys the same as mine, they will only be used for road us for the winter months as i don't go off road :)

here are some pics of the alloys i have just taken off and of the ITSs i have just fitted with the steelies on.

Hi Daz
i won't be using them for off roading just as a winter / snow tyre on the road.

Thats seem a bit of a waste of mud tyres.
Also most people prefer an AT tyre in the snow.
Muds are great for deep unbroken snow, but not as good once the snow has been compacted. not enough rubber in contact with the icy surface.

U will find they rub on full lock on the alloys due to offset

Paint you steels or buy spacers.and pack tehm out of the arches a bit.n watch the inner arch

Hi discodad

yeah its a bit of an experiment tbh, the disco i have now fitted with the said BFGs last winter in the snow where ok but was expecting better, the disco i used to have before this one fitted with goodyear eagle +4s they where absolutly useless in the snow.

now i know its a different animal but before i got into discos i used to have a s11a swb fitted with the said insa turbo saharas not the exact tyres but same make and tread and it was great in snow and it was fitted with a 200tdi so bags of power, very little wheel spin unless you booted it, and no slidding all over the place like the two discos do so i am just trying it out with the insas on, so if everything goes to plan and it snows in the next few weeks :D i will let you know.

Well I know UK Spike has the same tread patten and if you do venture off road you will be pleased with how they perform.
have fun and fingers crossed for snow!

Hi haigy

yeah they do rub with these steelies on rubbing against the front trailing arms.

yeah sounds like i need to stick with the steelies and fit spacers, **** what she says :eek::D

Genuine Land Rover alloys and steel wheels, both as fitted to the Disco 1 should have the same off set . If I rember correctly it is embossed on both and it is about 33mm . Regards Jonathan

Hi jonathan

i couldn't see anything on either of the wheels but decided to measure them and on both wheels i get 5 3/4" between where the wheel buts up against the hub and the edge of the inside of the wheel so looks like they will be ok.

Don't fit spacers. Either adjust ya stops to prevent em from rubbing. You'll lose a bit off full lock but so what?? Or do what I do (with 235/70/16 sahara's fitted) When yu hear the tyre rubbing turn the wheel slightly the other way and it stops rubbing.. :D
