Input gear Questions!

Right!

long story short i swapped the (dodgy) transfer box in my defender, for a disco one.

After taking it for a drive, its very clear that one of the bearings in the input gear is fooooked!!

so my question is, is my input gear from my defender box(which is in good nick) the same as my disco input gear or do all disco boxes have 28 teeth on the input gear?

Sorry to hear that news mate!!!

Thats also news I did not want to hear, since my defender box is buggered i've just purchased a used Disco transfer box of eBaggers which I'm awaiting delivery. Now I'm even more worried!!!!!

Ah dont be too worried lad, the input gear is easy remove and easy enough do the bearings on if needs be, im just trying to save myself a few quid and the hassle

mostly they are fairly bomb proof

It depends on box suffix as b and d are not compatible 300 tdi and td5 are different again as far as I'm aware

righto, think the easiest thing is if i just whip out the input gear and compare it!

e suffix disco boxes are 28 tooth ftc5087 ,previous 26 tooth as def boxes ftc5089
