I am thinking about keeping 'spares' of the larger more expensive items that one would expect to 'fail' basically so that I can buy the parts when I find a good price versus when forced to buy what ever is available in an emergency.

I therefore have some general TD5 injector questions that I have also Googled and obtained mixed results.

1 : How reliable are the injectors?
2 : How many miles should they be expected to cover normally before being considered 'shagged out'?

You are more likely to need injector seals before you need injectors. My TD5 is on 140k and still on the original injectors. On the whole the injectors are more reliable than most other common rail injectors.

Tell me about it - if they had been green tops they wouldn't be there any more ;) - given that his statement re "eye watering" regarding new ones is very accurate. He reckons they are black tops but you can clearly see green plug sockets, they came from a 2003 so it is 'borderline' whether they are black (10p) or green (15p) don't fancy spending the money to find out though, he is adamant about collection only.

Whilst I know you can downgrade to the blacktops I don't really want to, the higher pressure of the green tops has its advantages.
