Please could someone help me? The injector spill rail on my tdi 300 looks like it should have a pipe attached to the injector on the far left but nothing is there. The the one on the far right has a return line connected to the injection pump, i think that this is letting air into the system and causing my Discovery to cut out as soon as i rev it. Could someone please tell me if i am missing something.

Thank you in advance

ok mine goes from rear inj. one pipe to no. 3 that links to 2 then 1 then to pump same as yours. If it was fine before have you altered anything ? if you have two pipes off rear inj blanc one off, (rear facing one)

By far left I assume you mean back of the engine? Should only be 1 spill connection to the rear injector, if you have 2 then the unused 1 needs blanking off and yes it will effect the running of the engine

Thank you for the quick replies, Blue Beasty yes i did mean the the one at the back of the engine and it does have 2 spill connections, i will try blanking off the rear one. if this is supposed to be blanked it must be drawing air into the fuel system which would explain the problems that i have been having. Thank you all for the responses i will let you know if solves my problem.

When you say it is blanked already do you mean it is blanked off inside as there is nothing blanking it on the outside. Surly if air is in the system it will have an effect on the running of the engine.
It ticks over at around 750 revs as soon as you try to rev it it kicks out white smoke and dies.

yes its blanked internally ,if air is effecting it its coming in from input side (front banjo bolt ) when running pump has service pressure which is bled out of rear banjo which has small hole to hold pressure but allow air and excess out ,air would have to be pumped in,put a clear plastic pipe in between filter and pump ,check filter ,lift pump ,pipes etc

OK thanks, the filter was only changed a month ago, i did think about the lift pump but its only been on 3 years. I did find a small leak on the fuel line where the sediment tank has been bypassed so i replaced the connector yesterday. After that it ran fanatic for about 5 miles then this happened again.

so disco then remove rear floor carpet and insulation theres a panel can be removed and under fuel sender has two pipes passenger side one is feed for lift pump ,pipes rust where they come out of sender ensure from there to lift pump its good as fuel is sucked from tank and air is easier to suck in than fuel from tank, return side doesnt effect running, but you dont want a leak

Thanks to everyone for your comments, I did solve the problem today. It turned out to be due to the fuel filter not been on tight enough, took it off and replaced nice and tight and running perfectly. I will be having words with the garage that did my service.
