Hi, newby here. Been looking around the site for a while but now i need some help so signed on the line, hope you guys can help.

Got me a 90 with Disco 200 engine, did the conversion early part of this year, but me head gasket has gone. Now i have got the head of but can see that the injectors and heater plugs need removing, plugs no problem but how the *** do you get the injectors out? Need to do this to get head machined.

Hi

Each injector has a fork shaped plate holding it in. Just undo the nut and the plate should come off the stud and injector. If you use a 15mm spanner on the flats at the top just by where the leak off pipe was fitted, twist the injector left and right to loosen it, the they should just lift out.

Make sure that the copper washer come out with the injector, also when you refit them use plenty of copper slip on the lower body of the injector.

Hi, thanks. Thats what i did with 3 of them but no:2 just will not move. In fact the dam thing unscrewed itself and now I have a pile of springs and what look like shims.
I was wondering if it was luck that 3 came out or was a service tool ment to be used.:(

I've had a simular problem on my 300 tdi, but number 4 injector, it wouldn't budge. I had to take the head off, for machining, the only way the engineering shop got it out was to heat up the head and let it cool.

My current problem is that the head is back on and No. 4 won't go back in, I need to find away of reaming out the hole that the pintle of the injector sits in, whilst the head is still on the vehicle, otherwise it's all off again.

I think in all honesty you have a simular problem to mine and having to take the head off is the only answer.

Good luck

hi i had this problem too so what i did was losen the injector nut and give it a good dose of wd40 .then go and give it a run. it should just pop out you will know when it has poped out because you will get some smoke in you cab and there will a clinking noise. once it has come out tighten it back down . DONT FORGET TO TAKE SOME SPANNERS WITH YOU TO TIGHTEN IT BACK DOWN

We used to have a good way of removin injectors from X5's (as they fail as often as anythin!)
Get yourself a can of coke and pour it in around the injector and leave it to soak in for a bit. Should come out after that, dunno why this works but it seems to

Thanks guys for the tips.
Coke sounds good will remember that one.
boydy1989 was right the heads already off! Decided that 4llb lump hammer and punch will do the trick(after finding that some of the internal parts of the injector had gone missing, now i know i put them safe somwhere)
So carefull tapping with a good soak out it came.
