Hi, I've just fitted a 19j into my series 3 and the injector pump is leaking from the throttle linkage shaft ( I think that's what's it's called) number 10 on the photo attached. Please don't start telling me this has been covered in another thread, I'm sure it has but I have spent the last hour and half searching for a thread and failed to find anything:mad: so any help would be appreciated, I am a tired boy who has been hard at it all day one engine out and another one in.
The engine has been stood in the garage for a couple of months so I suspect the O-ring may have perished. Is this a job that can be undertaken with the pump in situ or will it have to be removed? If it can be done in-situ any advice or tips that would help I thank you in advance!!

Hi Blackburn, thanks for your reply, I've had some time off work today and managed to change the throttle spindle O-ring. The old one was like a crusty old sock.. The issue I have now is setting the throttle, there is about 20mm movement on the throttle arm before the engine revs start the increase, I'm going to take all the play out of the throttle linkage, if this dosent cure it would re-positioning the throttle arm on the throttle spindle help?

Did you have this issue before you dismantled it?
Spindle has flats for linkage to sit on.
The nut nearest the stop solenoid will let you take some of that dead time out but not sure how that will effect run down when you take foot of gas.

To be honest Blackburn I didn't take notice of any dead time before I dismantled it, I have removed the engine to change the rear crankshaft seal so when it's back in I will try to adjust the linkage, thanks for your help;)
