Hi guys

I've been taking my Freelander to LR specalist for the past 12 months. After its last service the guy said he felt the motor was 'slightly underpowered' (feels ok to me and it's my second TD4) and suggested that running an injector leak off test would be a good idea.

It's going in for tyres and brakes next week and I thought I'd get the test down at the same time, until I got quoted 1.5 hours labour to do the test - yipes:eek:

My motor is a 2006 td4 and has done 55,000 miles, for the last 12 months it's always been run on good quality fuel (shell V power diesel) and occasionsional shot of Redex. As for the previous owner and 40,000 miles - who knows, although it has got a full dealer history so I'm assuming it's been looked after.

Should I try a quality injector cleaner first? If so, can someone please recommend one that they've had good results with please?

Thanks in advance.

hi

hope u don't mind me saying but I assume they've changed the crankcase filter and has the egr bypass been done as that makes a difference

if there saying its underpowered is the vcu etc all ok

does it smoke at all

sorry sidetracking but just an idea if they've checked these things first and why they think the injectors are at fault , as arnt they around 100 quid each for exchange

hope this doesn't come across as being rude in any way in me saying about the other bits, plus have u got a synergy box fitted ,

plus I use millers injector cleaner

gary

Yes, did all the filters (inc the crank case) in mid 2014 along with hoses and EGR bypass. I'm pretty confident the VCU has loads of life in it as it reverses freely without tightness.

I get a bit of blue smoke at start up but not major or at any other time.

Haven't got Synergy etc I've always been a bit nervous about those after market tuning devices, assume you've got one and have no regrets?

Thanks
