I'm in the process of replacing filters etc to try and find why my disco runs like a dog. When my wifes car was serviced they replaced the fuel filter and filled with injector cleaning fluid to blast that through first. Has anyone had experience of doing this and is it worth while?

I did it to my old lt35, use the injector cleaner from partco. It works a treat, start it up and rev it a few times, you will see loads of black soot and deposits all over your driveway where the exhaust exits. i wouldnt recommend doig it to often though.

I assume we are talking petrol. If it was a disco fuel fillter the fluid would run out while fitting the filler. Sounds a bit of bull to me.
I use the stuff once or twice a year, Redex or what is the cheapest at the time, poring the whole bottle of the suff into a full tank. Don't see any smoke or gunge but I think the engine feels better for it.

it is something I have done to diesel engines b4 and it works a treat... guaranteed to give plumes of black smoke and make your car run a lot better for a while.. not something to do often but once a year or so should be OK would have thought..

obviously if it f's your car up then that isn't down to me

For gods sake don’t ever pour any liquid into the air intake of ANY diesel engine, it will result in a hydraulic lock and at best will end up bending a conrod or four/five/six.
Most additives are best left on the shelf anyway.

Rob has somone from Redex given you the Hump?
I use it in mine when i fill up and it works great more power and better performance. An Octane boost every 6 months and a LITTLE Redex every fill.

i'd say you'd be better taking the injectors out an giving them a bloody good clean an inspect them for an problems,

redex an all the other ****e dont do your engine any good as it makes it run hotter, a good blast down the motorway would give the same effect.

just my opinion
