hi still working on this rangerover classic 1988 3.5v8.flapper type system. i have located relays under drivers seat.what i need to know which relay operates the fuel pump; also what pin on ecu operates the live for the fuel pump. also is the wire what plugs into the pump at rear white. as im am trying to fight myself through abit of a mess caused by someone elses work. thanks.

could do with a picture of what colour orfuel relay looks like. as there are 4 under the drivers seat thanx

hi yes i found it printed it off now. 2 of the relays were knackered .so replaced but still getting no live to the white wire that supplies the fuel pump. fuse is ok.not sure were else to look.

Are you getting power to the fuse?

Is the line from the Fuse to the relay OK and can you get power?

Can you here the relay clicking when you turn ignition on and crank the engine?

Not sure on the 14CU system, but the 1993 Classic with the 14CUX needs to see an 'Engine Turning' signal before it pulls the fuel relay in....it gets this from the LT side of the Coil via a resistor....

The flapper is moved by the airflow created when the engine is cranked and this closes a circuit which then activates the pump relay.

I am not sure to what extent the attached files overlap with what Saint.V8 has sent you, but they may help.

hi peter i might be testing it wrong. mine is the flapper type. i have been testing power with just the ignition switch turned on so dash lights are on. i have not turned it over to see if power is at the pump . also it had no airflow meter as it had been done to run on lpg only. so i am trying to get it running back on fuel. i have brought a flapper airflow meter complete with pipes..so will i need to get the car turning over then should i get live down to pump. regards paul. i dont here the relays click when ignition is turned on .only the plastic grey relay clicks the 2 metal ones dont.

Or just wedge the flap open to test the feed to the fuel relay.

The flap switch can fail and on some cars (including mine) the switch in the air flow meter is wired permanently on.
