Indicator/horn/dip switch smoking!!

Hi all. Having a mare!! Has anyone come accross the following;
Bought new bearmach indicator/horn/dip stork from lr direct because horn wasn't working! Arrived today and fitted it as busters guide. When I'd finished I got my brother to stand in front of my 1990 2.5td to check my lights, side lights came on, headlights came on, indicators fine but when I put my main beam/ flash on, it started smoking from where the two copper contacts touch to make the circuit! Now I have no headlights!!! Any ideas people?

Lol this happens with mine on occasion. I wouldn't worry about it, unless it doesn't stop that is

I'm a donut!!!! I'd trapped a cable between the steering column and the tightening clamp on the switch! What a waste of 25 sheets!
