Hello all

Please help, my 90 300tdi has developed some electrical faults.

Firstly it was blowing the indicator fuse and I couldn't find out why so took it to an auto electrician (to whom I won't be going again cowboys!) and they mended this fault but caused many others most which where fixed easily.

It no longer blows fuses they traced this to the rear near side indicator and replaced the bulb holder.

However now when I apply the brake pedal it puts my brake lights on but also all the nearside indicators (just solid not flashing) and shows the indicator symbol on the dash.

Also when I start indicating then apply the brake it interupts the signal.

Does anyone know what the problem may be as I have lost all confidence in the so called pros.

Please help:(

You either have a bad earth or straight short. Most likely an earthing fault with the same rear light as you previously had problems with. The garage could even have fitted the wires the wrong way around.

Thanks Ratty I will take a look at it and see what I can do. What colour is the earth? and could I run a new one straight to the chassis or something to bypass any fault?

please excuse my ignorance but I am useless with wires do you mean run the black all the way back to the negative terminal?

Also it used to have a earth from the incator or flasher fuse to the bulk head but they removed this could I try putting this back? It was something that must of been fitted in its previous life as a Derbyshire Dales Snow Plough! and gritter.

Just thought I would let you know I think the problem is solved. I pulled the wiring out of the chassis at the rear and two wires where almost completely worn through. They are now mended so fingers crossed all will be well!

If any one wants a very good auto electrician in Huddersfield I have now found one! he is a breath of fresh air after the last bunch of robbing buggers in Huddersfield.
