can anybody tell me how to replace the bulb on my fuel gauge cant see how much fuel I have when I'm driving in the dark.
I will get round to buying a repair manual soon

I think you've got a TD5 haven't you? In which case, it's not too hard to take the instrument cluster off - screws either side and underneath - and from that point you should be able to see where the bulbs go. It's a so-called 286 in the smaller instruments and a couple of 509Ts in the speedo. Tweezers are helpful.

Ease the binnacle forward so you don't pull connections apart and you'll probably need to disconnect the Speedo cable if it's got one to get better access.

Thank you as soon as I get some time off work I'll try that

My 300tdi has no speedo cable, so I doubt a TD5 has one. This is good because they can be a real knuckle skinner to dis and reconnect in some vehicles.

Really? That's a surprise, with no knowledge on the subject, I would have expected the 300 to be cable.
The op never said what he had.

Yes, the TD5 instruments are all on multiplugs. Mind you they can be a bit hard to separate with just your fingernails. However, if you just want to change the instrument bulbs there's enough slack in the wires to get at them without disconnecting I find.
