Hi,

im really annoyed now!

i have a problem. yesterday, in the snow, i re-fitted my battery after charging it, hoping to go somewhere quickly in an emergency. But the alarm sounded and the display says im locked out. (so i was no use in this emergency!)

i have read up on the forums and it says that i have to obtain a EKA code from land rover.
i found a code written in my range rover user guide, and my dad has been trying it today, with no luck. so we decided to go to a land rover dealer and present the logbook (and identification) to obtain the code.
problem is that the code we found in the book is the 'correct' code for my VIN.

i have been trying to get this working all evening but NO LUCK :(

the car doesn't seem to give any indication that i am inputting this code! ive read that the lights may flash, or the car will beep. but nothing!

anybody have any ideas? im stuck without a car now!

4 left turns
(X) right turns
(X) Left Turns
(X) Right turns
(X) Left turns
1 Right turn

no indications, no nothing. the red light in the middle of the dash still flashes constantly, and when i open the drivers door the alarm sounds for 30 seconds!

My diagnosis....

from Rangrovers.net
No Response to EKA Code:
I have heard one case where entering the EKA code did not have any effect, due to a bad lock switch. Jacob Lund had an unexpected battery drain and after replacing the battery the engine was disabled/locked and the remote did not work. To enable the engine and start the car he tried the EKA procedure without success. Each time he tried to start the engine after having gone through the EKA procedure the "Engine Disabled" message came up. ALso, there was no response at all when he did the EKA procedure (no clicks, no lights blinking, no signals on the dashboard, etc) only the central locking system switching on and off. After four days at an authorized service shop with a TestBook, the problem turned out to be the lock switch (the one that recognizes the turns of the key when you "enter" the EKA code manually).

strip out the lock mech, strip it down and clean it up fiddle with it while connected check wires and replace it on door. It should then work

Quick question.... When you do your key turns..... Do you return the key to the 12 o'clock position each time??? If not that may have been the cause?.... As you can't go straight to the other side!.

I hope you have this sorted by now, but if not Just a thought. If you enter the wrong code several times or stop make a mistake I think the car locks you out from trying for several hours

Also make sure all doors and bonnet Are properly closed, I had issues with my bonnet, even though it was fully closed the latch didn't spring into place and car didn't register so not alowing me to imput the EKA

before yo ustart the sequence make sure all doors and bonnet are closed, but unlocked. lift all the door locks by hand if not. Also make sure the key code lockout warning is not on the dash.
Then start your inputs. lights should flash as you enter the code.

Hello, when you entering the eka code , you must turn the key to the rear of the car and back once before you commence your code then follow previous distructions, never faild me , if your still locked out look on range rover .net i read theres a master type code not 100% but sure its 151 , but your need to check, good luck ....Rob

hi guys,

all sorted now. 6 hours of pain though.

one of the switches inside the door lock mechanism was stuck. so i took it apart and wiggled it around and it works now.

i did have a big problem with the car automatically deadlocking, but removing the battery sorted that out. and i entered the EKA code by pressing the buttons rather than turning the key.

whatta nightmare.

ill try to upload photos of the lock mechanism if i can get imageshack to work.

cheers for everybody's help and suggestions..
