Just looking around newly acquired Disco TD5, and see there is strip of black coloured foam across a vent (?) below windscreen, under bonnet.
It is flimsy and falling apart. What purpose does it serve, and ought it be replaced.

Stops leaves, bugs etc getting to the heater air intake. U can buy a sheet of the stuff at your local aquarium shop its used as a filter, and cut into strips enough to do 3 discos, around a £5 or mine was a couple of years ago.

Hi PCR,
If you replace with more foam, double up the number of metal retaining clips to hold it in place and you shouldn't have a problem with it breaking up again soon.

Mine had deteriorated to black mush I had to scoop out.
