Guys,
Just about to buy a new 5/8" socket for my head bolts, but wondering what other Imperial sizes are used on the V8 engine ? Most stuff seems to be metric so far.

Pete

Make sure it is single hex not twelve point. Impact sockets are good for head bolts.

Got A 6 point one off ToolsToday or similar by Chinese sounding firm but Wammers says they're Swedish. Having a bad day for names today. Tent I think the brand was.

get a set for Halfords, they do great sets at good prices, if you have trade card then you get big savings, I took my series II apart and put it back with a simple set from them, highly recommended

Don't think there would much metric stuff on a Series II. Do Halfrauds do any proper spanner sizes other than metric? :D

Unfortunately Halfrauds pretty much only do 12 point these days. It is "the trend" apparently. Hence why I had to buy a single socket after the first (Halfords one) split trying to undo a head bolt!

Don't buy one borrow mine. I bought a standard and deep Teng impact socket for the same job a few months ago and you're welcome to borrow them.

I found pretty much everything was imperial on the engine as far back as the exhaust headers, and then the rest of the car was metric. I just have a Halfords professional socket set, and the imperial sockets that came with that were all I needed.

You need quite a long and slim bi-hex for the rocker covers IIRC. I can't remember the size I'm afraid.
