impact gun recomendations

The 3 in question are studs in the outlet-,, hopefully the nuts will undo,, if they don't and shear off ill have to remove the manifold and Drill the studs out ,, not a nice job,,,
 
There are three metal rollers inside a metal casing that will grip the stud when turned anti clockwise, they work quite well but there does have to be enough of the stud left for them to grip into
 
ah ok , offset rollers.

i have something similar for inner tie rods on steering racks after the ****s at peugeot tried to tell me i had to pull the whole rack out to do the inner tie rods ......it took me 45 minutes to do both sides with the tool.
 
does anyone know what size the nut on the exhaust flange to manifold is,, ive got a 15mm that fits but seems a bit slack and dont wana end up rounding it off,,
i seem to remember someone saying to me that them particular ones are imperial,, somit like 9/16 but could be wrong.. anyone shed any light on this ..
 
i think i will be useing a combination of plenty of penetrating spray air wrench on a gentle setting and heat as well..
 
I bought one of those cheapy Parkinson ones from Lidl's but you get what you pay for - it has roughly the same power as Michael Parkinson himself.

I went and splashed out on a Chicago Pneumatic CP749 as recommended by a diesel fitter at work and you just have to show it to a bolt and it undoes itself through fear.

Is that one of the composite style guns?
 
Not sure what you mean - the casing? They're both metal and do feel pretty chunky but the Parkinson one is a lot smaller than the CP one when you put them side by side.
 
I was going to get one to use on the 3 nuts that secure the exhaust down pipe ,as I have a new stainless one to fit ,, what are the chances of them coming undone or is this likely to rip them clean off along with the stud.. Have tried a spanner with no sign of it budging ..I've been soaking it in wd40 for a week as well

I've had to remove these today, gave them a good soaking with penetration fluid last night and managed to crack them off with a hand torque wrench only because it's long than my normal 1/2" drive jobber. Had to tap a 9/16" socket on, the one I could only get at from underneath the vehicle but all three came of eventually without shearing owt off to.

Yes sorry the casing, you can tell as they weigh next to nothing and sound really weak, but amazingly powerful, Ingersoll Rand are the main ones but theres plenty of copies around.

well i finally got round to fitting the exhaust today..

after 2 weeks of soaking in wd40 and GT hit it with an impact gun and the nuts span straight off,, thankfully..
mind you took me rest of day taking off the rest and fitting the new system.

still fitted well,, only trouble i had was pushing on the new rubbers that support the exhaust.. i guess there is a nack to it,,
